The church:

Gillingham Community Church is an intergenerational church in North Dorset. We are a growing community church, meeting together regularly on Sundays, in small groups and for events such as worship evenings, prayer and midweek events. We have great youth and children’s groups and welcome people from all backgrounds.

The job role:

We are seeking a passionate and committed Youth & Young Adults Worker to lead and oversee all activities for young people aged 11-25.
This is a new role, offering an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to shape the spiritual growth and pastoral care of young people, within the church and those in the wider community, who may have little or no connection with church.

18-25s Worker – New Community Church

The job role:

We are looking for a relational, organised and outward looking leader to engage and welcome students and young adults, fostering a community of radical Jesus followers where making new disciples is central. You will lead the 18–25s team, developing and managing volunteers to establish and strengthen the ministry, nurture communities of belonging and discipleship, participate in outreach across the city, offer pastoral care, and build networks with churches and organisations locally and nationally.

The successful candidate will bring pastoral sensitivity, spiritual maturity, and a consistent devotional life, with their relationship with Jesus underpinning all they do. You will also demonstrate strong administrative and operational skills, build collaborative relationships across the church and wider community, contribute to programme planning and midweek activities, and make New Community your home church, gathering weekly to worship and invest in the life of the congregation.

Full Time Youth Worker – New Generation Church

The job role:

We are a church who value all ages. We are always looking for ways to include our youth in our faith journey and for them to experience and encounter God for themselves. Raising a passionate generation of children and young people is important to the life of the church.
We are looking for a creative, passionate and energetic person to develop our work with 11-18 year olds.

Play a key role in nurturing the spiritual, emotional and social development of the youth
within the church (typically ages 12-18). Lead, organise and implement programs that
engage young people in their faith, foster a sense of community, and encourage them to live
out Christian values. Building team will be an important part of the role.

  • Sunday mornings:
    • To help equip, resource and build the team delivering youth work on a Sunday morning.
    • To help create an energetic environment in which young people can grow spiritually and develop their faith: learning to hear from God for themselves.
    • To help young people play their part in the church family with regular involvement in the Sunday gatherings.
  • Midweek:
    • To work to build on our current work with young people to help create
      community and develop a programme of support
    • To run and coordinate, in partnership with our key volunteers, the
      running of midweek groups
    • To build on our existing Community Projects for young people supporting our community and evangelism initiatives
  • Events:
    • To help lead and coordinate the youth teams and content for our annual community outreach – Lark in the Park
    • To plan and execute key events for youth such as: residentials, seasonal parties and special services
  • To manage the records of young people and families via our online database (ChurchSuite), including consent and group attendance
  • To ensure safeguarding and policy procedures are followed at all times across the work
  • To support the administration of our DBS checks and Safeguarding Training for volunteers

Part Time Youth Worker – Jubilee Church

The job role:

JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to lead, develop, and grow our youth ministry by building strong, supportive relationships with young people, both within our church family and in the wider community. You will inspire young people to discover and deepen their personal relationship with Christ, while helping them recognise their dignity, worth, and value to God. This will include promoting their emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing in a safe, welcoming, and collaborative environment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Leading and developing youth programmes
Design, lead, and oversee discipleship groups, youth clubs, special events, and volunteer teams, ensuring all activities are engaging, culturally relevant, and effectively communicate the Christian message while maintaining safe and effective communication with young people and stakeholders.
2. Building discipling relationships
Foster a culture of youth discipleship by modeling Christian living, mentoring young people, nurturing their spiritual growth by enabling them to understand the biblical story and encountering the Holy Spirit, learning how this engagement with God relates to their daily lives as apprentices of Jesus, and developing emerging leaders through guidance and prayer.
3. Developing outreach programmes for local youth
Build relationships and trust with young people beyond the church by partnering with local organisations and schools to extend support and outreach in the wider community.
4. Personal development
Actively pursuing personal spiritual growth and professional development, regularly reflecting on and adapting practices to better serve young people and the church community.
5. Safeguarding and inclusion
Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure all youth activities are safe, inclusive, and accessible so that young people feel welcomed and included, particularly any young people with additional needs, by equipping volunteers and maintaining robust procedures
6. Administration
Ensure that all administrative requirements for the youth work in the Church are in place and kept up to date. Oversee the youth work budget and manage your work area.
7. Contributing to the whole Church
Participate fully as a staff team member, working and praying together to seek God’s direction as we develop church strategy and implement the vision and mission of the Church.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
We are looking for a spiritually mature and resilient Christian leader to join our team, someone who brings energy, enthusiasm, and emotional stability. You will be an approachable, compassionate, and flexible person with a servant heart, who enjoys working collaboratively and is a supportive team player, comfortable following guidance as we work together towards a shared vision.

Essential experience, skills and gifts
* Experience of youth leadership and ministry sufficient to hold responsibility in a small to medium sized church context and to take our youth ministry to the next level.
* Experience of enabling others and growing disciples, with a track record of identifying, encouraging and developing others in leadership.
* Ability to develop and communicate a vision for youth ministry in a church environment with experience of growing young disciples and leading sensitive and safe
worship and prayer ministry with young people.
* Ability to actively engage with young people from different backgrounds and cultures in a safe and inclusive manner.
* A confident leader, skilled at building and managing volunteers, encouraging and releasing the gifts of others, able to organise, recruit, delegate, and co-ordinate. A
‘completer-finisher’ able to see things through.
* An engaging, theologically informed communicator, able to train, teach, encourage, and inspire.
* A reflective practitioner, prayerfully attentive to the impact of their actions and always seeking to learn and improve their work and approach as a result.
